James McCarthy has been thrust into the spotlight again following his excellent display in the 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock last night.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder currently plays for 1st Division leaders Hamilton Academical. He made his debut last season aged 15 against Queen of the South, and scored just 2 months after his 16th birthday in a 2-1 defeat to Livingston.
Born in Glasgow, he is of course eligible to play for Scotland, but Ireland came calling first and he now represents them at U-17 and U-19 levels.
According to various tabloids, his preformances have attracted attention from many clubs, including Barcelona, Celtic, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Rangers and even Deportivo de la Coruna.
He trained for 1 week with Liverpool last season, but opted to stay with Hamilton to concetrate on improving his game.
Expect a big-club move coming soon.
