Hey (Liquid) Football Fans!
For those of you that subscribe or visit this blog regularly, you'll have noticed that I've written squat in the past week, mainly due to the fact that I'm writing essays, doing mid-term tests and revising left, right and centre (along with the occassional 7 hour session of Football Manager 2008, but who in the right mind could blame me?)
So just to let you know that until my final exams are over, posting will be paused. But, fear not, for on the 17th of March, Liquid Footy will be back up and running in no time. More than can be said for Eduardo anyway...
I leave you with what is, in my opinion, the quote of the weekend from spouter of wisdom, Steve Bruce:
"Some would say it is not even a yellow card." - Bruce's reaction to Martin Taylor's tackle which snapped Eduardo's fibula like a twig and dislocated his ankle.
20 days off...

The Future of Liquid Football

Late last year I set up this blog for 2 reasons:
1. For fun.
2. To have (eventually) an authoritative, respected blog with a large, responsive community, to build on as a possible platform into the journalism profession.
As I have only been able to blog part-time, reason 1 has taken serious priority over reason 2. The key challenge for me right now is to level things out a bit.
In the next few months, I have a action plan ready and waiting to try and achieve my second goal sooner. Below are some of the targets I'll be looking to hit:
1. More posts, with a regular frequency and regular topics, and perhaps other writers.
2. A better networking strategy.
3. Better time management.
4. Movement from the blogger platform to wordpress, to allow more freedom with my blog's design and interactivity.
One thing that I've started doing is writing for a couple of other footy websites. The first is Eyefootball, a relatively new website bringing up to the minute news from around the footballing world in an easily digestable and navigatable format. Secondly, I put up my first post today on Left Back, a blog similar to Liquid Football in the sense that it's more opinion than news orientated, but with a greater readership. Both are definitely worth a look.
For regular readers of Liquid Football who might be afraid that I'll stop this blog and jump ship (however few of you that may be), then let me assure you that there's no need to panic. I remain as dedicated to turning my baby into a fully-fledged and respectable blog as I did on day 1.
If you have any comments, suggestions or questions about the future of Liquid Football (I'm all ears), then please drop me a line in the comments section below, or email me at andrewglover87[AT]hotmail[DOT]com.

Goodbye liquid-football.blogspot.com...

Hello Liquid-Football.com!
As you can see by your address bar at the top of the screen, Liquid Football has had a slight uplift in the domain name department, and has ditched the rather unattractive .blogspot from its URL.
Why did I do this?
While blogspot is a very useful and easy to use blogging platform, I felt that removing the .blogspot will help Liquid Football in a few key areas in the near and far future:
1. Separation and Individuality
Liquid Football and Blogger.com are 2 separate entities. Even though they work with each other to bring you this blog, I felt that Liquid Football lost some of its identity with .blogspot in the domain name. Removing this will hopefully strengthen the brand.
2. Respect and Authority
Without a domain name that you have purchased and put effort into yourself, you could lose respect and authority amongst your blogging peers, who may think that you are not a serious enough blogger if you are not willing to buy your own domain name. Liquid-Football.com should remove this potential problem.
3. Ease of Use
Most importantly of all, the change was made so that it was easier for readers to find, remember and spread the word of Liquid Football. The previous domain name had too many words and special characters, so the new address will be far easier for users to recall.
Update your bookmarks!
You can now access Liquid Football at:
liquid-football.com
www.liquid-football.com
liquid-football.blogspot.com
Don't worry, the feed address will remain the same, so no need to go fiddling about there if you're a subscriber.

Merry Christmas Liquid Football Fans!

I wishing you all a very happy holiday period, and hope that Santa was as good to you as he was to me (Setanta freeview box... ideal for a student footy fan such as me!)
Thanks to my readers, subscribers and commentors over the past few months... hopefully the next year will be filled with as much talking point and footballing hilarity as the past year. Make sure you stay tuned for the Liquid Football Blog Tournament as well which kicks off on the 6th of January.
Have a great New Year!

3 weeks is a long time in football
Well I'm back! I can hardly say my holiday was fun, but it was most exceptionally mistimed given all of the drama and excitement that has gone on in the past 3 weeks. Turns out I've missed quite a lot...
- Scotland lose against Italy, but then thankfully getting an easier World Cup group
- Liverpool somehow make the last 16 of the Champions League
- England (finally) get rid of smiling Steve after somehow managing to cock up qualification
- Giggs scores his 100th league goal, it only took him 15 bloody years
- Cristiano Ronaldo remains a diving git
Let's hope the footy over Christmas is exciting as it has been the past wee while, the cold weather often separates the men from the boys (and is often the time of the year where Man Utd hit some sort of incredible, invincible form).

Really Annoying Vodafone Champions League Advert

You know, the one where that 'typical football fan' comes out an announces the score in some really stupid, crap way. The worst one is where he comes out and bounces about the place while acting like some sort of twat... oh wait, that's every one.
Is it just me who would gleefully punch a hole in his face given the chance? It's this sort of marketing that puts me off Vodafone.
Although annoyingly, if this advert wasn't so mind-numbingly painful to watch, I wouldn't be writing about it, and you readers wouldn't be thinking about Vodafone so much! I guess that's viral marketing for you...

Who Drank All The Liquid Football?

3:29 AM! Hours ago I was watching the woman from the BBC telling me that Highlights of the Women's World Cup would follow MOTD. It must've been a short programme.
This brand-spanking new blog, is free for everyone and anyone (especially me) to comment, argue, discuss, debate, digress, ramble or just read about the current affairs of the modern game.
A short warning... posts will be opinionated! If you like that sort of thing then please stay. Maybe even bookmark us.
For now I'll just be leaving posts of my thoughts on recent footballing news from throughout the world. There's a poll on the right there see, and there's also the liquid bet of the week. I'll be updating more frequently with match previews, reports, and short things for entertainment such as videos, quizzes and top 10 lists (everyone seems to love those).

What is RSS?
RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. Many people describe it as a ‘news feed’ that you subscribe to.

So how do I subscribe?
If you are using Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, you'll see an orange icon like this
or like this
. If you click on this, you'll be able to view Liquid Football's feed.
From here, you can either add this feed to your web browser or to a web-based feed reader. Instructions are given when you view the feed.
