Liquid Bet of the Week - Tyneside Derby Special

Newcastle's technical superiority should be matched by the home advantage of Sunderland. A fiery encounter should lead to a high-scoring draw as both defences have been leaky of late.

The Bet: Sunderland 2-2 Newcastle - 14/1

Liquid Bet of the Week - Amazingly Likely 100-1 Shot!

Fabregas enjoying Walcott's bum a bit too much
The bet: Arsenal to beat Liverpool 2-1, Cesc Fabregas to score 1st.

Fabregas grabbed a double midweek in the Champions League, and given Liverpool's sturdy defence, will be the most likely goalscorer given his long range abilities. Liverpool are in something of a lull, so I expect the Arse to beat them.

It is possible, surely more possible than 100-1? That's like, a £1000 return for a tenner. Not too shabby methinks.

Liquid Bet Of The Week - Liverpudlian Special

Victor Anichebe first to score?
In honour of Super Derby weekend, we've focussed on the Merseyside encounter for this week's liquid bet.

Everton have been usually strong at home in derbies of late, with Liverpool finding it hard to score freely away from home.

Therefore, we forecast a 2-1 victory to the Toffees, with Victor Anichebe scoring first. This will fetch a fine price of 30/1, so get betting!

Liquid Bet - The Result

Damn that Liquid Bet!
The Bet: Ukraine to beat Scotland, Romania to beat Holland, Finland to beat Belgium - 24/1

Actual Result: Ukraine 1-3 Scotland, Romania 1-0 Holland, Finland 0-0 Belgium

OK, so one result out of 3 ain't too bad... maybe. To be honest I'm glad I got the Scotland result incorrect!

From now on, I'll let you know if one of these turns out correct. It'll save my fingers extra typing (and my ego extra bashing).

Liquid Bet of the Week - Euro 2008 Special

Will Shevchenko get his act together against the Scots?

Ladbrokes is brilliant, not only can you bet on who will kick the game off, but how many times the woodwork will be struck! You have to be desperate for cash if you put any sort of money on that (or any sort of money on this, you have been warned).

So slightly earlier than usual this week, here's our Euro 2008 Liquid Bet of the Week.

Ukraine to beat Scotland - The last time Scotland were on a high going into key qualifiers, they lost to Belarus at home under huge expectations. I hate to say it, but I see history repeating itself and Ukraine beating us at home.

Romania to beat Holland - The Dutch have been struggling to score recently, and failed to beat their counterparts in the reverse fixture earlier on. I fancy Romania, who are strong at home, to pip this one.

Finland to beat Belgium - The Finnish are above their opponents in group A with some very good recent form, and the Belgians are a shadow of their former selves. Slightly risky with Finland being the away team however...

Total odds - 24/1. Worth a fiver, no?

Liquid Bet Of The Week - 3 Draws

Liquid Bet of the Week Review - Emmm... I was sort of right.

Curse you Seol Ki-Hyeon!
Bet: Fulham to lead at half time, Chelsea to win - 28/1.
Result: Draw at half time, Draw at full time.

OK, so Fulham to lead at half time, with Chelsea winning at full time was a possibility. It could have happened! And if you think long and hard about it, Fulham winning one half and the Blues winning the other is kind of a draw... in my books anyway... maybe not the actual bookies.

In my defence, 28/1 was a long shot. One day I will get a Liquid Bet right, you'll see.

Liquid Bet of the Week - Chelsea v Fulham

Will a goal be enough for Fulham at Stamford Bridge?
Chelsea have been looking a bit shaky defensively since the Normal One took over. So I fancy Fulham (who have scored in every game so far this season) to take the lead before half time.

However after the break, unlucky Fulham will succumb to immense Chelsea pressure and end up losing. If this happens, even a fiver will return £140.

Fulham to lead at half time, Chelsea to win - 28/1 - Ladbrokes.

Liquid Bet of the Week - Result

Damn, I wish I hadn't put that tenner on now...
Chelsea, Wigan and Sunderland to win got you a tasty 39/1 shot with Ladbrokes. What was less tasty was the fact that none of these sides won.

Clearly, Wigan should have had a penalty, the ref was biased against Chelsea, and there was no legislation for Craig Gordon's poor keeping. All viable reasons for the solidness of last week's liquid bet. Maybe.

Apologies if you're out of pocket. If it's any consolation, so are we.

Liquid Bet of the Week

We've picked out our usual accumulator bet of the week from 3 fixtures this time. A sly £10 on away wins for Chelsea, Wigan and Sunderland will return an impressive £393.75 if bet on Ladbrokes (just remember who told you that when you pick up your winnings)!

Chelsea to beat Man Utd, Wigan to beat Reading, Sunderland to beat Middlesbrough - 39/1.

Mastication for the Nation
Gambling, as they say, is wrong. Dead wrong. So wrong you can't even do it online in "the land of freedom" anymore. But with 28/1 on Man Utd, Bolton, West Ham and Villa to win, maybe it's just slightly OK? A tiny wee smidge? Apparently not, thanks to Bolton giving woeful attacking a bad name.

That's 1-0 to the bookies then.
