He is young & has a bright future, I will give him that. BUT the man has many flaws. Many saw "best player in the world", yet he never shows up for the big game. The EPL is one of the worst competitions in Europe. In fact it's only a competition between the top 4. The teams CR plays against every weekend for the most part are shite. He is a marketing gimmick for ManU just as Beckham was. A good player and a tool to make ManU richer.

Though my opportunities are few to catch EPL or Champions League being a Yank as you lads like to call us, it seems very premature to compare C Ronaldo to the greats just yet. Surely, he is a star and should continue to rise but he seems a bit selfish to me and that could effect how and where he plays in the future. Scoring a few highlight reel goals is nice but teammates make stars great. If he becomes too selfish he may limit his options of teammates willing to paly with him.
But what do I know, I get to watch DC United games...sigh.

He isn't even the best player on his own team. Rooney is. Rooney makes everyone else around him better. He can't decide if he's a winger or a center forward. He plays a Berbatov when he doesn't get the pass, rarely finds the open man in the box, and when faced with a Gattusso who hounds him exclusively can't handle the pressure. Tricks is all he's got. Kaka is a better passer, Messi is a better talent and I'd watch out for the next gen like Alexandre Pato and Kun Aguero who are right on his heels. As for Cronaldo's goal scoring? He's getting a real Francesco Totti treatment-padding his scoresheet with soft goals.

Would anyone even talk about gelhead being the greatest player if he wasn't playing for that hype machine we know as Man U? Don't think so. Dude sure knows how to go M.I.A. in the big games.

Hedoes have enormous talent, and some of the things he does take your breath away... it's easy to forget he's still only 22.

There is no doubt that Ronaldo is an extremely talented footballer but like you say Ade Akinbiyi could have looked world class against that Newcastle team and i have lost count of the amount of Champions League games where Ronaldo seems to go missing.

For me Kaka is a much more rounded player, reminds me a lot of Zidane.

This is the correct opinion of C. Ronaldo.

Plus: he is not the playmaker of a Kaka or even an Ibra.

Ronaldo is a twig, Ibra can fend off two defenders at once in front of the net and feed the ball to another player.

It is such HYPE when people refer to Ronaldo as the best in the world.
